ICT Minister Honors Best 20 Entities Participating in Egyptian MSEs Product Development Program


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady honored, today, the top 10 companies involved in providing ICT-specialized services and applications within the project : “Activating Egyptian Product Development for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) 2015" and 10 government agencies benefiting from the services provided by companies participating in the project, during a ceremony organized by Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC), affiliated to the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).

Under the theme :"towards providing integrated innovative solutions to government entities," the ceremony was attended by ITIDA CEO Asmaa Hosni, and ITIDA VP and SECC Chairman Hossam Osman, in addition to a number executives from the companies involved in the project, and a number of officials from government entities benefiting from technological services and applications provided by these companies.

ElKady said that the state attaches great importance to backing ICT companies, especially MSEs which represent the vast majority of companies, play an important role in the development of the local economy and provide employment opportunities. He added that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through ITIDA, launched this program in 2012, which is within the framework of the efforts exerted by MCIT to increase the rates of growth in the sector, in order to overcome the obstacles it faces.

He also added that the number of companies benefiting from the program since its inception and over the past four sessions reached 350 companies, presenting 674 integrated innovative technological applications and solutions within a budget estimated at 80 million pounds.

120 companies have succeeded through the fourth session of the program in providing applications and technological solutions to 41 governmental entities in different sectors in 17 governorates, other than the Greater Cairo and Alexandria, such as the governorates of Luxor, Aswan, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, the Red Sea, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Dakahlia, Ismailia, Fayoum, Port Said, Suez, Sharkia, Gharbia, Qalyubia and North Sinai.

These projects included the implementation of applications and solutions for the government sector in the areas of health, transport, education, tourism, culture, domestic and foreign trade, banking and financial sector and the international cooperation. This is in addition to many other technological solutions that serve several government sectors and contribute to reducing the time and cost of providing government services to citizens.

Among the most prominent government entities that have benefited from the program are the General Authority of Information, the Ministry of Higher Education, several universities, the State Council, and the governorates of Giza, Sharkia and Assiut and other governorates, in addition to the Suez Canal Authority. More than 20 ministries are mong the companies’ customers.

ITIDA plays a major role through SECC in supporting MSEs specialized in providing ICT applications for the government sector. ITIDA also builds their capacities to enable them to compete at the local and international levels, providing integrated creative solutions to government entities, and activating the role of governance in improve the performance of institutions and thus provide better services to citizens.
