The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany met, yesterday, with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat to discuss cooperation and work mechanisms between the two ministries, during the next period, in light of the merger between Tourism and Antiquities ministries.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby, and a number of officials of the two ministries.
The two sides discussed a number of topics pertaining to providing the needed infrastructure for improving ICT services in hotels, touristic villages and resorts, to ensure providing high quality services for tourists and visitors.
They also discussed updating the website of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, post-merger, to make it more appealing and promote the different types of tourism in Egypt, such as cultural, beach and medical tourism.
In addition, the two ministers agreed on increasing the number of archeological sites and beaches that the website users can visit virtually, as well as using advanced technologies to promote tourism in international events, including holograms and Augmented Reality (AR) screens to display Egyptian tourist products, differently and more attractively.
The Tourism Minister stated that using modern technologies in international events will change how the Egyptian pavilion looks and the used promotion technique, thus attracting more tourists to Egypt. He added that the tourism sector represents Egypt’s civilized image and a prop to the Egyptian economy.
For his part, Talaat said that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is working on building digital Egypt through implementing a certain strategy that includes increasing broadband penetration nationwide. This is in addition to supporting and developing the digital society, as one of the main pillars of economic and social development, for developing all types of services provided to Egyptians, visitors and tourists, especially with regard to providing telecommunication services at the highest speed and best quality. This reflects the true and civilized image of Egypt in the world, thus attracting more investments that help boost development.
