Tourism, ICT Ministers Agree on Activating Hotline for Receiving Complaints, Inquiries of Tourism Personnel

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El Anany has met with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, where they discussed the status of the cooperation projects between the two ministries.

They also discussed supporting the tourism industry technically, during the current crisis, and agreed on activating a hotline, in the coming days, for receiving the complaints and inquiries of the employees of the tourism sector.

During the meeting, El Anany underlined the ongoing and fruitful collaboration between the two ministries, and described the hotline, to be activated, as a fast and simple vehicle and mechanism for communicating with the tourism personnel and listening to their ideas, views and complaints. He added that the two ministries will cooperate to create a new service to communicate with tourists as they visit Egypt, and answer their inquiries through a call center and a mobile application.

For his part, the ICT Minister stated that the hotline will be activated, and a team of agents will be formed from Telecom Egypt (TE) centers, to answer tourism employees’ inquiries, as work will start in close cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Talaat highlighted that there is effective and fruitful cooperation between the two ministries to launch a number of initiatives, once the current period is over and work in the tourism sector is resumed. He added that digital technologies will be used to promote tourism and the Egyptian heritage. This is in addition to providing mechanisms for communicating with tourists, receiving their inquiries and suggestions and analyzing such data to reach a complete vision that shall contribute to support decision making.

Moreover, the two sides agreed on carrying out a joint project to create imaginative historical figures using hologram, to promote tourism in Egypt at international events and exhibitions. This is in addition to using a technology to enable 3D virtual visits to tourist attractions and museums, as well as posting the Egyptian heritage content on the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities portal.

The two ministers also discussed raising the efficacy of the ICT infrastructure and boosting internet speed inside hotels and touristic villages and resorts.

The meeting was attended by  the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby, the Deputy ICT Minister for Infrastructure and the Director of the Telecommunication and Infrastructure Sector at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Raafat Hindy, and a number of officials of the two ministries.
