Housing, ICT Ministers Witness Signing Cooperation Protocol for Automation, Digital Transformation at SHMFF

The Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar, and the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat have witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund (SHMFF) for the development of automation and digital transformation services at SHMFF.

The protocol was signed by the Deputy ICT Minister for Institutional Development Ghada Labib, and SHMFF Chairperson May Abdel Hamid, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Housing Utilities, and Urban Communities.

El Gazzar stated that the protocol involves the implementation of a number of projects, including designing and developing the technological system at SHMFF, according to business needs and performance indicators. The aim is to achieve the digital transformation and automation goals through upgrading the used technology into microservices technology, improving the security of the environment hosting the SHMFF system, and providing the infrastructure needed to develop the system, including devices, equipment, connection lines and others.

The ICT Minister underlined that the protocol aims to put the digital transformation system into effect at SHMFF and develop its ICT and institutional infrastructure to raise the efficiency of and develop the Fund services. This comes as part of MCIT cooperation with the State sectors, with the aim to harness IT to improve the quality of service in the different State institutions, thus attaining Digital Egypt vision. According to the protocol, he added, MCIT will provide technical support and specialized training to develop and build the digital capacities of employees and executives.

Talaat expressed his appreciation of the collaboration with the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, in putting the digital transformation system into effect. He referred to the special areas of cooperation between the two ministries, adding that the two sides are working to develop and fully digitize the work system at SHMFF.

SHMFF Chairperson highlighted that the protocol includes providing technical consultation for managing the project, and the necessary technical consultation for the project and the operation environment. This is to ensure the system continues to run, and to provide specialized technical training as per the needs of the projects, within the protocol’s scope of work.

For her part, Labib underscored that the protocol comes as part of the ongoing cooperation between MCIT and the different State institutions, to put the digital transformation system into force, carry on the institutional development efforts, and proceed with MCIT plan for developing and building the digital capacities of employees and executives in a way that contributes to creating a new business model and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
