ICT Minister, Belarusian Ambassador Talk Cooperation in ICT


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has received the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Terentiev, to discuss enhancing cooperation in ICT areas, including capacity building, digital transformation and cybersecurity.

During the meeting, Talaat said that he looks forward to furthering productive cooperation and more promising partnerships with Belarus in the coming period, in ICT, exchanging expertise in cybersecurity and capacity building, digital transformation and financial inclusion. He presented Digital Egypt vision that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is implementing. This is an all-encompassing vision that lays the foundation of the transition into a digital society.

The ICT Minister underlined that MCIT focuses on supporting the legislative framework. The Anti-Cybercrime Law and the Personal Data Protection Law were recently passed, according to the best international practices and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Work is also underway to pass a law on electronic transactions.

For his part, the Belarusian Ambassador welcomed strengthening cooperation between Egypt and Belarus in ICT. He said that technology is the corner stone of achieving progress in all areas, with the reliance on ICT tools growing all over the world. Terentiev also stressed the importance of cooperation in providing specialized training to have highly skilled young people in technological areas.
