During Visiting Kafr El Sheikh, ICT Minister Presents ICT, Post, Capacity Building Projects


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and the Governor of Kafr El Sheikh Gamal Nour El Din held an expanded meeting, presenting the projects and programs that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is implementing in cooperation with Kafr El-Sheikh governorate to achieve digital transformation, in addition to the programs of building the capacities of the governorate’s youth. The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials from MCIT and the governorate, a number of Parliament members, and the President of Kafr El sheikh University Abdel Razek Desouky.

During the meeting, the Information Technology Institute (ITI) Chairwoman Heba Saleh showcased MCIT efforts to deploy Egypt's Creativa Innovation Hubs nationwide, and the role of these hubs in providing integrated services to young people in the fields of technical training in all ICT specialties, in addition to implementing programs to support self-employment and entrepreneurship.

The ICT Minister and the Governor also met via video conference with a number of entrepreneurs and graduates of the ITI technology ambassadors program, which aims to develop the skills of distinguished calibers of Kafr El-Sheikh University staff and transfer experience to qualify them to participate in training and contribute to increasing the number of beneficiaries of these programs.

In this context, Talaat participated in an open dialogue with the youth about grants and training programs that they received in the fields of self-employment and remote work in many advanced technological specializations, including Artificial Intelligence, mobile application development, social media marketing, and open source software development.

In addition, the ICT Minister and the Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh listened to a detailed explanation from MCIT- Head of the Central Department for Community Development Hoda Dahroug, about the projects implemented by MCIT in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. Programs were implemented to train female craftswomen on marketing skills, by using digital social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, and holding a number of awareness seminars on financial inclusion, Internet safety, and e-learning for 300 girls and women, followed by a number of online consultation sessions on the dimensions of sustainable development. The comprehensive development portal for Kafr El Sheikh governorate was developed and a team from the governorate was trained to maintain its technical management. This is in addition to training faculty members, students and graduates of the faculties of artificial intelligence and specific education in the governorate in the field of e-content.

Certificates were presented by the ICT Minister and the Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh to a number of women, graduates of the first batch of Qodwa-Tech initiative in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate. The initiative aims to develop the skills of female entrepreneurs of handicrafts in the field of digital marketing and e-commerce, through providing training and awareness programs directly and online.

Honored young women talked about the development of their projects as a result of their participation in Qodwa-Tech initiative, which guidance and consultation contributed to opening new horizons for them and assisting them in managing the project; preparing a business plan; reaching the target audience; and attracting more clients. The young women also thanked those in charge of the initiative for their role in supporting women and girls nationwide, especially women in the villages.

During the visit, the support provided by MCIT to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and youth in the governorate was also presented. The National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) Chairman AbdEl-Monem El-Sharkawy talked about the projects that have been implemented to develop the educational process for PwDs; equip special education, inclusion and community schools and classes; and train teachers within the framework of a plan that aims to train 30,000 teachers nationwide. This is in addition to the support provided by MCIT to equip the integrated community centers within a number of youth centers in the governorate, and to establish computer rooms at the highest level to provide training and technological rehabilitation services to the governorate’s youth, including PwDs.

At the end of the meeting, the Governor gave the ICT Minister the Governorate Shield, in appreciation of his efforts in deploying technology, information and communication services.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO) Sherif Farouk, Telecom Egypt Managing Director and CEO Adel Hamed, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) CEO Amr Mahfouz, ‏the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) Director Iman Ashour, and the Advisor to the Minister for Technology Innovation, Electronics Industry and Training Hossam Osman.
