It is worth mentioning that the President of the Republic issued a decree, last week, to establish EUI as a national university at the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital.

EUI was founded by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as the first ICT specialized university in the Middle East and Africa. EUI inked agreements with top international universities, including Purdue University - West Lafayette, and the University of Minnesota, to grant students a dual bachelor's degree.

MCIT plans to grant more partially-funded scholarships (up to 50%), as well as fully-funded ones to top-performing high school graduates. The aim is to help create an ICT community and equip young people with digital skills to help them fill in-demand jobs in local, regional and global markets.

EUI has four faculties: the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Business Informatics, and the Faculty of Digital Arts and Design. October is assumed as the official start of the new academic year at the four Faculties.
