MCIT, Civil Aviation Ministry Cooperate in IT, AI-Powered Projects


The Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar has met with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat at the headquarters of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. They discussed enhancing cooperation in achieving digital transformation and leveraging ICT solutions and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to serve the civil aviation sector.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed on signing a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Civil Aviation, represented by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The aim is to employ IT and AI in developing the services provided to experts and those interested in meteorology and improving weather forecasting and information and data management and analysis systems to provide those services electronically, overcome all technical challenges and maintain the accuracy of services.

The Minister of Civil Aviation commended MCIT efforts with the state sectors and government agencies to build Digital Egypt in a way that helps improve the quality of public services and optimize government performance. He stressed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation is keen on cooperating and coordinating with MCIT to bring about a technological breakthrough in the different fields and activities of the air transport industry, in line with modern digitization and the era of digital transformation.

For his part, the ICT Minister commended the cooperation between the two ministries. He praised the pivotal role that EMA plays in weather forecasting and the exchange of meteorological data and information at local, regional, and international levels, in addition to its growing role as it enters the era of digital transformation. He stressed that the protocol that will be signed with EMA will help capitalize on IT and AI to improve meteorology-related services, weather forecasting, and information and data management and analysis systems to provide those services electronically, overcome all technical challenges and maintain the accuracy of services.

From the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Montaser Mannaa, Assistant Minister for International Affairs and Information Basem Abdel Karim, EMA Head Hesham Tahoun, and Permanent Undersecretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation Amany Metwally.

From MCIT, Assistant Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy, Advisor to the Minister for Technological Talents Hoda Baraka, and Advisor to the Minister for AI Golestan Radwan attended the meeting.
