The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, and the Governor of Port Said Adel El Ghadban opened and inspected, today, a number of ICT and post projects in Port Said Governorate, as part of the Minister’s visit to the governorate. They both visited the new CREATIVA Innovation Hubs, which will be established in Port Said Governorate in cooperation with Port Said University.
This comes within MCIT plan to spread these hubs in all governorates. The Hubs’ services are provided by the Information Technology Institute (ITI), the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), with the aim of investing in creative youth in ICT in all governorates of Egypt. This enhances the creation of job opportunities for youth by opening wider horizons for entering the labor markets at the local and global levels, and for entrepreneurship.
It is worth noting that there are seven CREATIVA Innovation Hubs already operating as a first phase, in Mansoura, Menoufia, Ismailia, Minya, Sohag, Qena and Aswan. Work is underway to establish 10 more Hubs as a second phase, with a total cost of EGP 1.5 billion for the two phases, as part of the plan to establish aHub in each governorate with the aim of providing technical training and fostering innovation. The Hubs host brainstorming camps, business incubators and accelerators for startups, along with the necessary training for those in charge of those startups and forums for bringing startups with investors.
Talaat and El Ghadban opened three post offices in Port Said Governorate: Port Fouad Post Office, Suez Canal Post Office, and Port Said Main Post Office, after developing and transforming them into integrated postal centers that provide all postal services according to the latest technical systems, in addition to providing Digital Egypt platform services, which amount to more than 100 services in all sectors.
The Chairman of the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO) Sherif Farouk stated that the completion rates in the plan of developing post offices throughout the Republic are going higher than the established time rates. In the second half of January, the development of 3,242 post offices throughout the Republic will be completed with an achievement rate of 77%.
Farouk added that ENPO has already started executing the project of developing and modernizing post offices throughout the Republic according to the latest international technology in this field, so that all services are provided with high efficiency with the aim of improving the level of services provided to citizens, so that every citizen obtains all services in a decent and easy manner.
It is worth noting that the Port Said postal district has 34 post offices spread throughout the governorate, to provide all services to citizens to the fullest.
The Port Said Main Post Office is located on an area of 450 square meters and serves approximately 80,000 citizens, while the Port Fouad Post Office is located on an area of 150 square meters, through which all services are provided to citizens, whether governmental, financial or postal services, and serves nearly 50 thousand citizens. As for the Suez Canal Post Office, it is located on an area of 77 square meters, and provides financial, postal and digital services to about 20,000 citizens.
Talaat and El Ghadban also inspected the work progress at the stores in Port Said main and Al-Zohour telephone exchanges. He was received by the Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt Adel Hamed, and officials from Telecom Egypt.
Talaat praised the efforts made by Telecom Egypt employees to upgrade the infrastructure and support the digital transformation process in the governorate.
It is worth noting that the number of land lines in main Port Said telephone exchange is about 51,227 lines. The store in the telephone exchange provides integrated communications services from landline, data and mobile contracting, solidarity services, school student lines, e-wallets, information cycles, link lines and short numbers throughout the week. Furthermore, it is daily visited by nearly 400 citizens.
The number of land lines at Al Zohour telephone exchange is about 55,206 lines. Moreover, the store provides all integrated communications services to the public on all days of the week. Furthermore, it is daily visited by nearly 500 citizens.
Talaat concluded his visit to Port Said Governorate by visiting Nasr Hospital, which has been automated within the universal health insurance project. He was accompanied by El Ghadban. The aim was to follow up and closely see the work progress in the universal health insurance system. The ICT Minister listened to a detailed explanation from the doctors and those responsible for operating the universal health insurance system in the hospital and a number of patients receiving the service, to check the efficiency of the operation of servers in all stages of the medical process provided to citizens, beginning from home registration and through diagnosis, until receiving the necessary treatment.
