ICT Minister, Lithuanian Ambassador Talk Cooperation in DX, FinTech, Cybersecurity

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has received the Ambassador of Lithuania to Egypt Artūras Gailiūnas. They have discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries in ICT fields, most notably digital transformation, FinTech, and cybersecurity.
The meeting has also discussed the proposed areas of cooperation since Lithuania stands out at the European and global levels in several domains of ICT, such as cybersecurity, high-speed Internet, digital transformation, FinTech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and capacity-building.
Talaat has highlighted that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) implements many initiatives within the framework of the Digital Egypt strategy, which rests on several pillars, including achieving digital transformation, building digital capabilities, and supporting technological innovation and entrepreneurship. He has added that he looks forward to exchanging expertise in ICTs. In addition, Talaat has stressed the significance of holding virtual meetings among Egyptian and Lithuanian experts to put forward visions and agree on areas of common interest.
Moreover, the ICT Minister has called for organizing a visit, through the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), to the Lithuanian private sector to explore investment opportunities in the ICT sector.
The meeting has addressed enhancing cooperation in the digitization of government services since Egypt strives to achieve the transition to an all-encompassing digital society and build Digital Egypt. The two sides have also discussed collaborating in the fields of cybersecurity and FinTech, since Lithuania is among the top 10 countries on the Global Fintech Index.
For his part, Gailiūnas has said that he looks forward to strengthening cooperation between Egypt and Lithuania in ICTs, most remarkably smart cities, digital signature, and cybersecurity, as well as in building digital capabilities through technological universities.
At the end of the meeting, the Lithuanian Ambassador has extended an invitation from the Minister of the Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania to the ICT Minister to visit Lithuania to explore closely the technological advancement and the relevant uses of technology and to hold talks to enhance cooperation in areas of common interest.
The meeting has been attended by the Director of the International Relations Division at MCIT Samah Aziz.
