ICT, Emigration Ministers Discuss Fostering Cooperation


The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Soha Gendy. They discussed enhancing cooperation between the two ministries to develop the technological infrastructure and enable digital transformation in the Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs to promote the Ministry’s efforts in communicating with Egyptian expatriates and linking them with their homeland.
 
The meeting was attended by Deputy ICT Minister for Administrative Development, Digital Transformation and Automation Khaled El Attar, Assistant Emigration Minister for Institutional Development Saber Soliman, and various senior officials from the two ministries.
 
During the meeting, the ICT Minister highlighted that Egyptian expatriates represent significant national wealth, as they continuously desire to serve the country at different levels. He added that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and its affiliates are adapting modern technologies to serve Egyptian expatriates' interests.
 
Talaat pointed out that certain mechanisms would be available to allow Egyptian expatriates benefit from the Digital Egypt platform, which includes 150 government services. He emphasized that a large number of Egyptian expatriates will benefit from these services due to the advantages and facilities they provide, according to the determinants that guarantee personal registration.
 
The ICT Minister stated that MCIT is prepared to cooperate with the Ministry of Emigration to enhance mechanisms of communication with Egyptian expatriates and to provide support for innovative ideas that would strengthen the ties of Egyptian expatriates to their homeland.
 
For her part, Gendy indicated that the meeting discussed the formation of a committee to discuss launching a cooperation protocol to support bilateral cooperation in the most significant fields of cooperation.
 
Gendy added that fruitful coordination and cooperation is to be promoted between the two ministries at different levels during the next phase, most notably studying the launch of an e-application that combines all advantages and incentives that are being discussed with various national institutions to support linking citizens overseas with their homeland. This is in addition to relying on the e-application as a platform to promote investment opportunities for Egyptian expatriates.
 
The Minister of Emigration added that the meeting also discussed means for Egyptian expatriates to benefit from digital services provided by the state to facilitate issuing their official documents.
