The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has honored the national esports team for winning the first place at the Arab Esports League 2022, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, earlier this month.
The team scored three victories in a row, beating out Bahrain and UAE national teams, and won against Saudi Arabia in the grand finals to be named champion of the Arab Esports League 2022.
An esports team by Telecom Egypt Sports Club, Ra’ad represented Egypt in the Valorant video game at the Arab Esports League 2022. The team participated in the League after winning the qualifying heat organized by the Egyptian Federation for eGames, last month.
Egypt’s national team won the qualifying rounds, where 13 Arab national teams competed, with only eight teams selected to participate in the League.
The ICT Minister congratulated the team members and executive staff and praised their excellent performance during the League. He called on them to keep up the excellent work to make their mark and keep Egypt’s flag flying in international contests.
Talaat remarked that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) supports all efforts aimed at building Digital Egypt and creating a society where ICT tools such as e-games, are utilized in different aspects of life.
MCIT and Telecom Egypt strive to turn Telecom Egypt Sports Club into a national e-games hub, said the ICT Minister, adding that he looks forward to the Club’s teams wining international tournaments.
For his part, Telecom Egypt CEO and Managing Director Adel Hamed thanked and congratulated the team members, highlighting that the victory culminated the tireless efforts exerted over the past two years to foster esports. Hamed added that he is confident the players would get ahead in the near future.
