The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Jordanian Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh. They discussed enhancing cooperation between Egypt and Jordan in ICT, especially in data centers, digital transformation, interconnection, and post.
The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation in digital infrastructure by benefiting from the Egyptian international cable network and connecting it with the fiber optic networks in Jordan. The two sides discussed the latest advancements in ICT and Telecom Egypt’s efforts to provide high-quality and efficient data transfer and transit services to the Jordanian market through the company’s point of presence in Aqaba.
The two sides discussed fostering collaboration between Egypt Post and Jordan Post. This is in addition to sharing Egypt’s successful experience in the post in light of Egypt Post's development and expansion to provide all kinds of community services, including government, financial, and e-commerce services.
The meeting builds on the discussions held with the Jordanian side to enhance cooperation between the two countries in ICT, establish partnerships, and promote joint initiatives, highlighted the ICT Minister.
Talaat referred to the efforts made to expand Egypt’s international infrastructure, indigenize the data center industry, and provide an enabling and attractive environment for investment. He added that the cooperation between the two countries in international connectivity was remarkably progressing.
The Egyptian side looked forward to exchanging experiences with Jordan in digital transformation in different sectors, including health and education.
For his part, Hanandeh discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in ICT fields.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed that experts from both Egypt and Jordan would follow up on the work progress in the agreed-upon areas. The Jordanian officials welcomed the invitation to arrange an expert-level visit to Egypt to explore its digital transformation experience.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Egyptian National Post Organization Sherif Farouk, the Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy, the Assistant ICT Minister for Global Information Infrastructure (GII) Mohamed Nasr Eldin, the Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt Adel Hamed, officials from the two ministries, and leaders of Telecom Egypt, ENPO, and Jordan Post.
