ICT Minister Opens First Edition of 'ManuTech'


   
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat opened, today, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the first edition of “ManuTech,” held at Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) in New Cairo, under the auspices of the President of the Republic.
 
ManuTech is shedding light on the latest technological innovations that have succeeded in creating a breakthrough in the manufacturing sector globally.

The ICT Minister highlighted the significance of fostering digital innovation, adopting advanced technologies in local manufacturing to achieve digital transformation in the industrial sector, and boosting its productivity to promote the state’s efforts to indigenize the industry and reduce imports to the local market.

The ICT Minister clarified the keenness of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to encourage Research and Development (R&D), and support startups to develop innovative digital solutions for different state sectors, including the industrial sector. Furthermore, various initiatives have been implemented to develop youth capabilities in advanced technologies, especially in the Fourth Industrial Revolution-related technologies.
 
Talaat indicated that the first Industry 4.0 Innovation Center (IIC) is being established in the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital to provide the necessary support in fostering industrial innovation and designing smart factories. He emphasized the state’s interest in deepening local technical industries with high-added value, such as IT, microelectronics, and embedded systems.

Talaat explained that numerous notable achievements have been witnessed recently, including opening several factories for mobile phones, tablets, and fiber optic cables, as well as attracting and opening more than 20 advanced companies in microelectronics and embedded systems.
 
The ICT Minister inspected the pavilions of international and local companies participating in ManuTech. He listened to an explanation of the solutions provided by these companies to support the industrial sector using the latest technological tools.
