Egypt Partakes in OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat headed, today, to Spain to participate for one day in the Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting is held on December 13-15 under the theme “Driving long-term recovery and economic growth by building a trusted, sustainable, and inclusive digital future.”

Ministers and government officials from 20 countries will participate in the event.

The ICT Minister is to take part as a speaker in a ministerial panel discussion on “The OECD AI Principles – impact on the global policy landscape.”

It is worth noting that OECD plays a significant role in the ICT sector by preparing studies and research that help governments compare different experiences and find solutions to common challenges. This is in addition to its role in coordinating national and international policies of countries and identifying good practices.

The current session of the OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting is to be held in Gran Canaria, Spain.

Egypt is the first Arab and second African country after South Africa to join OECD Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP). It has been a non-member state participant in CDEP since 2008.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in the previous ministerial meetings, held in Seoul, South Korea, and Cancún, Mexico.
