ICT Minister Talks Cooperation, Exchange of Expertise with Tejas, Tech Mahindra Executives

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat met, today, with the Co-Founder, CEO and Managing Director of Tejas Networks Sanjay Nayak, in New Delhi, India. They discussed enhancing cooperation in building wired and wireless networks to cover the needs of local, Arab and African markets.

Tejas is a leading Indian company specialized in wired and wireless networks and telecommunications devices and equipment.

The two sides delved into the most prominent products provided by Tejas to telcos and Internet service providers, as well as its activities in innovation and research and development (R&D).

Furthermore, the ICT Minister and his accompanying delegation met with Head of Africa and Middle East International Business at the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) Nehal Shah. They discussed the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system and proposed areas of cooperation, within the framework of Egypt’s keenness to achieve digital financial inclusion.

In a similar vein, Talaat met with Managing Director and CEO of Tech Mahindra CP Gurnani, and officials from the company. The meeting was organized by Tech Mahindra, in the presence of Ambassador of Egypt to India Wael Hamed and several officials from Tech Mahindra. Egypt’s efforts to develop the outsourcing industry and the company’s future plans were presented during the meeting.

The ICT Minister revealed that Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022-2026 was launched to encourage global companies to expand their business and digital exports in Egypt. He referred to the digital transformation projects in Egypt, most notably Ahmose, which is aimed at restructuring government operations and applications. He also mentioned the capacity building programs carried out by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and its affiliates.

The meeting also discussed Tech Mahindra’s plans to export IT services from Egypt, increasing the number of employees, and introducing new business activities, focusing on R&D services and software design.

The meetings were attended by Acting CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed Elzaher, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy, and Assistant ICT Minister for Global Information Infrastructure (GII) Mohamed Nasr Eldin.

It is worth noting that the ICT Minister and his accompanying delegation are visiting India on January 9-13. They are meeting with Indian government officials and CEOs of major ICT companies to discuss enhancing cooperation and attracting investments to the Egyptian market.
