ICT Minister, Indian Tech Firms Explore Cooperation Opportunities in Digital Egypt Projects

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has concluded his visit to India, holding several meetings with officials from major Indian tech companies in Bengaluru.

The meetings were held with the aim to discuss opportunities of cooperation and investment in Egypt in data centers, research and development (R&D) and electronics design, as well as in implementing Digital Egypt projects.

The ICT Minister met with Chief Strategy Officer Ramya Mohan and officials from Cyient, a global engineering and technology solutions company. They discussed enhancing cooperation in electronics and embedded systems and the possibility to host an engineering global center in Egypt. Cyient designs and manufactures semiconductors, electronic systems and tech solutions for major multinationals.

Talaat also met, today, with Vice President and General Manager - ASIC at eInfochips Mangesh Kulkarni. They discussed enhancing cooperation in R&D in fabless semiconductor design (Digital IC design services / embedded systems), and expanding eInfochips’ business in Egypt.

The meeting discussed Egypt’s strategy to develop the electronics design and manufacturing industry and the incentives necessary to support eInfochips’ expansion in Egypt, relying on the Egyptian talent pool in fabless semiconductor design and embedded systems.

eInfochips, an Arrow company, is a leading provider of digital transformation and product engineering services. It has been also recognized as a leader in engineering R&D services.

Furthermore, the ICT Minister visited CtrlS Datacenters in Bangalore. He met with CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy and officials from the company to discuss enhancing cooperation in data centers and cloud computing. CtrlS is Asia's largest rated-4 data center and managed services provider and trusted advisor to over 3,500 Indian and world’s leading organizations.

In a similar vein, Talaat and his accompanying delegation met with Vice President of GlobalLogic Suresh Khosla and officials from the company. They discussed opportunities of cooperation in Egypt in capacity-building as well as Digital Egypt projects. GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company, is a full-lifecycle product development services leader. It is headquartered in Silicon Valley.

Concluding his meetings, the ICT Minister and his accompanying delegation met with officials from Capgemini, a global leader in Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) and IoT services. He met with the CEO of Capgemini in India Ashwin Yardi; Engagement Director and Vice President Narayan Prasad, and several officials. They discussed the company’s activities in ER&D and expansion plans in Egypt.

The meetings were attended by Acting CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed Elzaher, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy, and Assistant ICT Minister for Global Information Infrastructure (GII) Mohamed Nasr Eldin.

It is worth noting that the ICT Minister and his accompanying delegation visited India on January 9-13. They met with Indian government officials and CEOs of major ICT companies to discuss enhancing cooperation and investment in several areas, including BPO and offshoring, digital transformation, capacity-building, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, electronics design and manufacturing, and GII.
