Egypt New Administrative Capital Wins Global Gov’t Excellence Award for Best Project in Gov’t Transformation

Egypt’s New Administrative Capital has won the Global Government Excellence Award for Best Project in Government Transformation. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat received the award.

The Global Government Excellence Award was presented by Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on the last day of the World Government Summit (WGS) 2023, in the presence of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In his remarks, the ICT Minister underlined that the state administrative apparatus' relocation to the New Administrative Capital marks a paradigm shift in government performance, helping transform into a smart participatory paperless government.

The New Capital was named the Arab Digital Capital for 2021, Talaat noted, adding that it embraces the efforts made to fulfill digital institutional development, digital transformation, digital capacity building, and digital innovation in a smart, ideal, and harmonious environment.

Talaat highlighted that Egypt has been keen on setting up the right digital environment for the New Administrative Capital, from building the infrastructure, systems, and applications to qualifying employees to use them. For relocating ministries and state agencies, employees were trained and information systems and digital transformation units were introduced to maintain work continuity, all to revolutionize government performance and create a smart participatory paperless government where correspondences and information are exchanged through digital channels, he added.

It is worth noting that the ICT Minister participated as a member of a high-level government delegation headed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in WGS 2023 where Egypt was invited as a Guest of Honor.

WGS took place on February 13-15 in Dubai, under the theme “Shaping Future Governments.” Heads of government, ministers, senior officials, decision-makers, thought leaders, and specialists in finance, economics, and social affairs from different countries participated in the Summit to exchange expertise, knowledge, and ideas to advance development and prosperity worldwide.
