At G20 DEMM, ICT Minister Meets Indian Counterpart, Discusses Cooperation Prospects with Tejas Officials

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat met today with the Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology in India Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, in Bengaluru, India. The two ministers explored ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and India in ICT.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of Talaat's visit to India, to participate in the G20 Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting (DEMM) .
The two ministers discussed the implementation of the MOU signed by the two countries last January and cooperation in the electronics industry and digital capacity building by establishing partnerships between the training institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and those affiliated with the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). In addition, they discussed collaboration in digital infrastructure to support digital transformation, including in digital payments.
During the meeting, Talaat said the Egyptian government values the Indian government’s invitation to attend the G20 meetings in light of India's presidency of G20. The invitation is a testament to the deep strategic ties between the two countries. He revealed that over the past few months, several Indian companies operating in the Egyptian ICT sector expanded their business.
For his part, Vaishnaw commended the remarkable development in the bilateral relations between Egypt and India in ICT.
At the end of the meeting, Talaat invited the Indian Minister to visit Egypt to explore closely the Egyptian ICT sector and continue talks between the two sides.
In a similar vein, the ICT Minister held a meeting with the CEO and Managing Director of Tejas Networks Anand Athreya, and the Executive Director and COO Arnob Roy. Tejas Networks is a global broadband, optical, and wireless networking company.
The meeting addressed the company's future plans and cooperation opportunities in the electronics industry. They also discussed potential collaboration between Tejas Networks and the academic institutions affiliated with MCIT in technical training and capacity building in installing, operating, and supporting telecom networks.
