The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has received a delegation from Vodafone Intelligent Solutions (_VOIS), headed by Vodafone Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Scott Petty, Technology Shared Services and Group IT Operations Director at Vodafone Pedro Sardo, and the Head of HR Egypt Center and Global Care at _VOIS Rania Salah. They discussed the company’s expansion plans in Egypt.

The meeting was attended by the CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed Elzaher, Global Technology Director at _VOIS Mohamed Sami, and External Affairs, Legal, Data Protection, and Privacy Officer, Risk and Compliance Senior Manager at  _VOIS Tony Samy.

During the meeting, the ICT Minister welcomed _VOIS' plan to expand its operations in Egyptian governorates. He emphasized the government’s efforts to create an enabling environment for investment in the ICT sector and encourage multinationals to establish delivery centers in Egypt to export digital services, contributing to creating job opportunities for youth and boosting digital exports.

Within the framework of Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry 2022-2026, Talaat highlighted, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) offers incentives for stimulating the export of digital services from governorates and promotes remote work. To achieve this goal, MCIT is developing the digital infrastructure nationwide and introducing training programs to upskill youth in various technology specializations and prepare them for the offshoring job marketplace, stated the ICT Minister. This effort enables trainees to secure positions in offshoring companies either within their governorates or remotely. He noted that Egyptian talents have consistently showcased exceptional capabilities in providing offshoring services globally.

In his remarks, Petty highlighted the huge potential of Egyptian youth, which serves as an incentive for companies to expand in the Egyptian market. He referred to the ongoing efforts and support from MCIT in various tech fields, as well as the close collaboration with ITIDA in training and qualifying youth for the global labor market.

Petty explained that as the strategic arm of Vodafone Group Plc, _VOIS is focused on creating value and enhancing quality. He stated that the company would increase and develop its offerings to include state-of-the-art features and more advanced capabilities in line with technological advancements and innovative applications. Petty further expressed that this expansion would lead to the creation of more job opportunities in Egypt and attract additional businesses and projects to the company, consequently benefiting the Egyptian market.

For his part, Elzaher underscored that ITIDA cooperates with tech giants operating in Egypt and caters to their needs to support the expansion of their operations, particularly in offshoring, and encourage investments. Elzaher emphasized that _VOIS serves as an exemplary model of the successful partnership established between ITIDA and multinationals. He noted that _VOIS stands out due to the variety of outsourcing services exported from Cairo, Alexandria, and other governorates through a remote work system, which offers numerous employment opportunities for Egyptian youth.

Salah emphasized that _VOIS' expansion volume is projected to increase by 15% annually following its imminent development and the opening of cooperation avenues with partners from various governmental and non-governmental sectors. She underscored that Egyptian youth, given their exceptional skills and talent, will play a crucial role in attracting more businesses and projects to the company.

Salah noted that the Egypt office currently employs over 9,000 individuals, with 700 working remotely from different governorates, notably Delta, Upper Egypt, and Alexandria.
